Excellent work Sir, you have a rare and fantastic collection of early Dandy comics, may I ask what is the earliest issue that you have in your collection?Into The Abyss wrote: 11 Jan 2026, 19:04Thanks jim244. Thanks jim244. I agree. Love in particular the Jonah Beano 1962 cover.![]()
It's a great cover, agreed.
However I love the comic strip on the cover features of the Dandy book.
Pretty original really, most annuals do not have complete comic strips on the front.
Great stuff !!!!!
Update: Sourced thread more comics today. A Dandy no.422 (Xmas cover) and no.315 both from 1949. And Beano no.365 also from1949. Have got both already got Dandy issue 315 but this cover is in better condition where the other although structurally sound has an unsightly dust mark. Will upload asap.![]()
What comics did you buy today?

I once bought 100 issues of 2000ad (early years natch as after issue 400 it just isn't as good...in my opinion) and 50 issues of Bullet in bulk loads but I don't in general.
And you are dealing with VERY EARLY DANDY so I just hope you didn't have to remortgage your house!!!

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Yeah, know what you mean jim244. It's a minefield sometimes. And no, didn't have a loan to buy the #9 Dandy. I got it for quite a reasonable price.
Okay , where to start. Just had delivery of my 85 Dandy comics dated between 1955 & 1957. I would grade them all about VG to VG+. There were only 6 issues that were basically in reading condition. Not bad going. I also had delivery of two 1948 Beano's and some 1946 & 1947 Dandy's issues which include two needed, #329 & #333, to complete the year. All around VG+ condition. So without further ado. Here are the comics.

Cheers jim244. Always a bonus to find snow-capped issues. Yeah, the 1963 Dandy annual is in remarkable order for its age. Bought a few more 1948/49 Dandy comics too. Will try to upload pics asap.jim244 wrote: 03 Feb 2026, 00:48 I'm a great fan of the snow-capped issues.

I find with old annuals often they have price clipped out and puzzles etc filled in.Into The Abyss wrote: 03 Feb 2026, 01:34Cheers jim244. Always a bonus to find snow-capped issues. Nice find on the annual Into The Abyss.![]()
The main obvious default is often the spine.
I have all the original Dr Who annuals and oddly out of the early ones the best spine is the first 1965 one.
Congrats on new finds Into The Abyss

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Cheers jim244. To be honest I try to get annuals with the least wear & tear. To be honest I've have been lucky so far.
Talking Doctor Who. I got the 1965 William Hartnell annual myself. Always wanted to get the 1971 Pertwee pink Annual. A bit pricey. Not prepared to pay inflated prices asked. If one was mint, I might push the boat out.
I also had delivery of the 1962 Dandy and my 1962/63 Topper annuals, including my comic bags & boards today. They were in as good condition as I had hoped , especially the Dandy. Don't think it's ever been read. Will upload some pics asap.
